About the blog

In 2010 I took advantage of a layoff to travel. I spent eight months in Siem Reap, Cambodia working on a software project for a children's hospital. On the way home, I stayed with a family in Lyon, France for a monthlong cultural exchange program.

It was quite a year. I visited three countries, lived as an expat, learned a little Cambodian and a lot of French, and met many wonderful people who gave me a lot to think about.

This started as a travelogue for family and friends. Now my focus is on sharing things with the next traveller. I hope you find something useful here.

Happy travels!
